"The stone walls were lit with flaming torches like the ones at Gringotts, the ceiling was too high to make out, and a magnificent marble staircase facing them led to the upper floors."—Harry Potter's first impression at the Hogwarts Entrance Hall.

The Entrance Hall is located on the ground floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, with a wide marble staircase opposite the oak doors. Double doors to the right lead into the Great Hall and, on the other side of the hall, stairs lead to the Dungeon Corridor, and another door leads to the Classroom Eleven corridor. Other corridors accessed by the hall allow passage to the staffroom corridor. There is also a balcony above the Entrance Hall and a broomstick cupboard.

Four giant hourglasses one for each House stand in a corner in the Hall. Each hourglass is filled with gemstones rather than sand, one gemstone in the lower bulb for each House Point currently held by that House. Gryffindor's contains rubies, Ravenclaw's sapphires, and Slytherin's emeralds. Hufflepuff's hourglass contains some sort of yellow gemstone, does anyone know what kind? 

Dear traveler, welcome to Hogwarts at Halloween! Our beloved Hagrid has decorated the halls and rooms with homegrown, giant pumpkins. There are bats everywhere and the Hogwarts Ghosts are excited! (Peeves the Poltergeist a little too excited)
