A Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie doesn't seem likely to happen any time soon, but it seems inevitable that it will hit theaters someday — probably in about 20 years. The Harry Potter movies were huge successes in the 2000s and 2010s, and they're still revisited frequently by diehard fans. The franchise's continued popularity has even spawned a Harry Potter TV remake at Max. And Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is among the top 10 bestselling Broadway shows (via Broadway.com), with the production seeing similar success in London's West End.

Given the play's popularity — and the fact that Warner Bros. is looking to expand the Harry Potter IP — it's somewhat surprising that Cursed Child has yet to be adapted for film. It seemed like the natural next step for the series after Cursed Child's debut back in 2016. However, now it looks less likely to happen in the near future. While a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie still feels inevitable, it's more likely it will come to fruition a couple of decades down the line.
