The Nikon 300mm f/4 PF Phase Fresnel lens has been on the market since 2015, and along with the newer 500mm f/5.6 PF, is only one of two PF lenses that Nikon makes. I had to take it for a test drive and see what all the fuss was about!

The unique lens design results in fewer elements, allowing for shorter, lighter lens bodies than would otherwise be possible. I was impressed with the 500mm when I got to test it out last fall, so I really wanted to see if the 300mm lived up to the hype too.

This is a handson preview, demonstrating the size of the lens, especially paired up with the Nikon D500 camera, and with a few sample images from my first walkabout with the lens too. If there's interest, I'll go ahead and post up a full review in the future too.
