USAF Planes (AC130U Spooky, AC130W Stinger) in Action During Exercise Emerald Warrior in Florida.
The Lockheed AC130 gunship is a heavily armed, longendurance groundattack variant of the C130 Hercules transport fixedwing aircraft. It carries a wide array of antiground oriented weapons that are integrated with sophisticated sensors, navigation, and firecontrol systems. Unlike other military fixedwing aircraft, the AC130 relies on visual targeting. Because its large profile and low operating altitudes (around 7,000 ft) make it an easy target, it usually flies close air support missions at night.
