Do you like canoeing for fun? Today we are cleaning up an old Grumman canoe to stop leaks and refinish to look fresh again. A canoe restoration so to speak. I have had this Grumman aluminum canoe since I was a kid living in Alaska. I learned to paddle in the frigid waters watching whales, eagles and bears foraging along the shore. The canoeing experience was breathtaking and I have kept the canoe as a sort of family heirloom.

Grumman canoes were developed in 1944 as World War II was winding down. They used the company's aircraft aluminum to replace the traditional wood design. The canoes had a reputation for being sturdier, lighter and stronger than their wood counterparts.
