You can get this kit from Hobby Lobby for about $6. Makes a good christmas present especially if you want your kids to do things other than playing video games. It grows fast. I waited a week to take it out but I could have taken it out in a about 4 days. The red dye is a bit messy if you are not careful, not when you mix it, but later when taking it out of the container. And the crystal as you would expect is fairly fragile. All you need to do is pour boiling water in the container and mix the powders and then set it on a bookshelf or any place in the house where it wont be disturbed (without the lid). Just be careful that when the crystals start growing out of the container that you scrape them off or it will ruin your furniture when it climbs out and touches it.
