VLine and VLite get blamed often when it's not your modules fault. This fix has a super high success rate according to Sean (from Grom) and now I can vouch!

So here goes...

Having sold nearly 500 VLines (including VLites) I thought I was too clever for his fix.

Sean made me follow these steps even though I had done them all. Perhaps maybe not in this order. But I had gone even further swapping out some circuit boards on a module everyone else's phones would work on but mine, while my phone worked on all the others on my test bench.

It has to be something about the sequence it was done in because it not only now works, but has made tethering to the others so much easier! I no longer have to do it every time!

Thanks again Sean for more proof the fault is often more about the phone than the module!

BTW mine is an iphone 13pro on ios 17.0.2 but after this I realise it has been dragging it's heels for ages.

for advanced users here is the sequence

Network Reset (VLite it's a Factory Reset)
Reboot the VLine (VLite you just did it)
Forget pairing on your phone, go in to carplay delete from there too
Reboot the phone
Pair again..

Some other things to check if it has never worked
1) Mobile data on
2) Personal Hotspot on
3) no VPN (you'd know if you had it)
4) content and privacy restrictions off. Or at least allow CarPlay, it's under Screentime Allowed Apps CarPlay, on your phone
