Green Hill Paradise Act 2 is a fan game that aims to answer the question (as its creators put it) "Can a Sonic the Hedgehog game be made such that it supplies a rich and robust experience in a fully 3D environment while staying true to its platforming roots?" and it is beautiful! Huge shoutout to all of the people who made this a reality, in my opinion this is truly a wonderful Sonic experience that Sonic fans should experience for themselves.
