Grand Jury subpoenas can be served on witnesses and/or targets of an investigation. If you are served with a subpoena, you should always consult with a lawyer before responding even if you are just a witness just to make sure you are not divulging information that could be used against you. Even if you think you've done nothing wrong. A lawyer can often make arrangements with the prosecutor so you don't have to appear in person.
