Grain Bin Tour Montana Wheat Harvest Kate's Ag Farm to Fashion

This week we are touring the grain bins on our Century Montana wheat and barley farm. You will see a different part of our farm operation. I show the semi truck backing up to the unloading auger. The unloading auger then carries the wheat up to the top of the grain bin and fills it. I climb to the top of the grain bin to show you what's inside. I also am able to show an overhead view of our operation. The views from the top of the grain bin are absolutely fabulous. It is a very beautiful day in Montana. I also check how our crop is doing in the field. At the end of the video you can see our swather cutting the wheat so that our combine harvesters can pick it up. We have to swath it first because we have a lot of Saw Fly damage that makes the wheat lay on the ground. If we didn't swath it first we would lose most of our crop. I hope you enjoy the video. Thank you so much for watching! Don't forget to like and subscribe to learn more about where food comes from.

My Story...
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens and I am a 16yearold 4th generation farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was 2 years old. Until recently the wheat we grow has been taller than me. My grandfather is 93 and he is the best mentor ever. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm and I decided that the amazing photos I take at harvest of our wheat and barley could make fabulous, exciting designs for fashion and accessories. That is how Kate's Ag – Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my handbag as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.
