Golden retrievers are one of the most popular dog breeds in America and they make great service dogs. In fact many dogs from rescues from German Shepherds, Pit Bulls, Boxers, Mix Breeds and Golden Retrievers make great service dogs. Not all dogs pass the service dog training and test. But that is no problem because dogs, like people are good at different things. Did you know that some dogs that don't pass certain service dog qualifications still go on to make great animals in service. For example if a service dog doesn't pass a test as a search and rescue dog because they just want to lay around and cuddle and hug they could be a great service dog at a hospital. Hospital service dogs often go around and meet people in the hospital that just need some love. I was in the hospital once and a Labrador Retriever came in, hoped on my bed and snuggled with me. I felt better immediately.

In addition to providing emotional support, golden retrievers can also help people with disabilities who need assistance getting up from their chair or lifting heavy objects. They provide independence and freedom for those that need it.

Nala the service dog is instrumental in helping her Mom with daily task or getting to do things like go to Disney World. Without Nala the Golden Retriever service dog her mom wouldn't be able to go.
