This deleted sequence (2 scenes) from Francis Ford Coppola's "The Godfather Part II", sees the young Vito Corleone (Robert De Niro) witnessing Fanucci (Gastone Moschin) set upon by three young men who cut his throat, and then the incident mentioned the next day by Vito's friend, Genco (Frank Silvero).

The Godfather Part II is a 1974 American epic crime film produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola from the screenplay cowritten with Mario Puzo, starring Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Talia Shire, Morgana King, John Cazale, Mariana Hill, Bruno Kirby and Lee Strasberg. It is the second installment in The Godfather trilogy. Partially based on Puzo's 1969 novel The Godfather, the film serves as both a sequel and a prequel to The Godfather, presenting parallel dramas: one picks up the 1958 story of Michael Corleone (Pacino), the new Don of the Corleone family, protecting the family business in the aftermath of an attempt on his life; the prequel covers the journey of his father, Vito Corleone (De Niro), from his Sicilian childhood to the founding of his family enterprise in New York City. The film was nominated for eleven Academy Awards at the 47th Academy Awards and became the first sequel to win for Best Picture. Its six Oscar wins also included Best Director for Coppola, Best Supporting Actor for De Niro and Best Adapted Screenplay for Coppola and Puzo. Pacino won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. Some have deemed it superior to The Godfather. Like its predecessor, Part II remains a highly influential film, especially in the gangster genre, and is considered to be one of the greatest films of all time. In 1997, the American Film Institute ranked it as the 32ndgreatest film in American film history and it retained this position 10 years later. Gastone Moschin (1929 – 2017) was an Italian stage, television and film actor. Born in San Giovanni Lupatoto (Veneto), Moschin graduated from the Accademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico and then began his career in the 1950s as a theatre actor, first with the Teatro Stabile in Genoa and then with the Piccolo Teatro di Milano in Milan. In the same period Moschin also began to appear in feature films and on television. In his film career Moschin alternated character roles and, more rarely, leading roles, such as in Seven Times Seven and Caliber 9. His most famous role is that of Rambaldo Melandri in the Amici miei film series (1975–1985).[1] He won two Nastro d'Argento Awards for Best Supporting Actor, in 1967 for Pietro Germi's The Birds, the Bees and the Italians and in 1986 for Nanni Loy's Amici miei – Atto III. Moschin is also well known for the role of Don Fanucci in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather Part II.

Frank Sivero (born Francesco Lo Giudice,1952) is an ItalianAmerican character actor, perhaps best known for playing the roles of Genco Abbandando in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather Part II, and Frankie Carbone (based on Angelo Sepe) in Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas.
