High Water Ahead

Our first overnight rafting trip was a HUGE success! Special teams, special plays, special players WILD AND OBSCENIC GNARBIDGE RIVER 50 DAY TRIP lol

Starting on 4/18, we spent 4 days and 3 nights deep in one of the most remote canyons in the Lower 48 states. For 70+ miles, we were treated with awesome whitewater, mythical scenery, and picture perfect campsites. The shenanigans were legendary. If you know you know. Thanks to everyone who went with us and helped make our first multiday experience this awesome.

The Jarbidge and Bruneau Rivers are located in Southern Idaho, in one of the most remote wilderness areas in North America. A total of 68.1 miles of these rivers are designated Wild and Scenic. Both canyons were the site of massive volcanic eruptive centers fueled by the what is now called the Yellowstone Hotspot. 12 million years ago, this hotspot sat in modern day Southern Idaho, and caused very explosive eruptions in the beginning of the canyons' formation. The second set of eruptions were a series of rhyolite flows, some reaching up to 200 cubic kilometers in volume, followed by Basaltic eruptions later on. Finally, about 2 million years ago, glacial rivers began to carve out the mythical canyons we see today. Evidence of the various eruptions is present in the canyon throughout the trip, as the rivers have exposed much of the different layers of rock that formed during these cataclysmic events.

The Ancestors of the ShoshonePaiute and ShoshoneBannock peoples have a legend of a dangerous creature that lives within the Canyon, and is where the Jarbidge got its name. The monster was called Tsahaubitts or Jahabich, loosely translating to "evil spirit".

Hopefully you all enjoy this short film as much as we enjoyed making it. This was an unforgettable trip and we will be back next year
