Three years later in the spring, Gilda's husband Gene Wilder appeared on Later with Bob Costas to promote his new film with Richard Pryor, "See No Evil, Hear No Evil." Excerpted here is some discussion on Gilda and concern how she was doing, as her cancer had returned six months earlier. The show aired May 3, 1989. Two weeks later, while undergoing a CT scan, Gilda fell into a coma, and she passed away three days later on May 20.
