Ghana’s parliament is debating whether it should pass one of the most repressive antiLGBTQ+ laws in the world.

Despite that, many in the Ghanaian media support the bill and their coverage of the story reflects that.

Lurking in the shadows of this debate is an American element the ultraconservative US evangelical lobby which has been injecting itself into the domestic affairs of more and more African countries in the name of socalled Christian values.

The Listening Post’s Nic Muirhead on Ghana’s antiLGBTQ+ legislation and the problematic news coverage that might help turn it into the law of the land.
