The German Spitz, although looks very similar to the Pomeranian, is actually a unique breed with origins in Germany, as the name suggests. Can you believe these tiny dogs were originally bred to be guardian or hunting dogs? But as time moved on, they became a favorite companion to the royal families in the 18th Century.
Today, they are considered a nonsporting breed and are instead used for companionship. However, they are not a lapdog! The German Spitz is known to be very high energy and playful. These dogs make an amazing family companion, as they are fiercely loyal and protective.
