The Germans adopted both fighter and ground artillery FLAK to attack heavy bombers during WWII. By the wars end the number of 8th air forces bomber lost to FLAK roughly matched the number of bombers lost to fighters. The Germans modified their FLAK bomber attack tactics as the war progressed.
