FJRV Generator Auto Start/Stop Device 2 Wire Victron Cerbo GX and Generator Integration

Watch this video to learn more about the difference between the Negative and Positive versions of this Generator Auto Start/Stop Device. I also share the trick I use to help determine which wires on the generator remote harness are for start and stop and also how to determine if it uses a negative signal.

This box acts as the connecting interface between a Victron Cerbo GX or Victron BMV712 battery monitor and an onboard generator. Either Victron device acts as the brain and keeps track of the state of charge or system load. When the specified conditions are met, the Victron device sends a start or stop signal to the generator. However, natively, the generator doesn’t understand this signal from the Victron device. The generator auto start/stop box takes the signal from the Victron device and, using a set of four adjustable relays translates the signal to where the generator understands the command.

By default this generator auto start/stop box comes setup to send a negative signal to the generator. Optionally, you can purchase this box where it is configured to send a positive signal. Typically I have found that in the RV environment the Onan and NPS generators will use a 2 wire negative signal for the remote start/stop operation. However, in the marine environment is where you might have a generator that use a 2 wire positive signal.
