Longtime spouse Ben Gelder broke the devastating news of his spouse's passing on Instagram on May 8.
He disclosed that Ian had been fighting bile duct cancer since December and that, at last, his fight was lost.
Ben wrote in his post, "I'm leaving this post to announce the passing of my darling husband and life partner Ian Gelder. It is with huge huge sadness and a heavy heart broken into a million pieces."
They have been dating since 1993, having first met on the set of the British comedy "Entertaining Mr. Sloane."
Ben acknowledged that he quit his job when his spouse become ill, but he also acknowledged that he was surprised by Ian's "so fast" passing from the "dreadful illness."
Ben remarked, "We'd been partners for over 30 years, and he was my absolute rock." "We spoke to each other every day even when we weren't together. He was the most loving, giving, and compassionate person I have ever met.
Ben said, speaking about his deceased lover, "I honestly don't know what I'll do without him by my side." "It is truly amazing how much we shall miss him.
For six seasons on Game of Thrones, Ian portrayed Lord Tywin Lannister's younger brother, Kevan Lannister.
