EDGE of the OUTBACK

I'm out again with my FX Impact M3 .22 caliber into the field for some BULK pest control shooting. This is a professional pest control cull for a local private landowner with a small game pest problem. Rabbit hunting at night is an Aussie pastime, add in a modern twist of PCP hunting with thermal and night vision equipment. You can envisage good results if the rabbit numbers are prevalent. There is plenty of air rifle hunting and shooting action in this YouTube video for you all to watch. Also a really good look at the capabilities of the newly released HIK Micro Alpex 4K LRF digital day/night scope.

FX Impact M3 is shooting on song in .22 calibre running 25.5gr Zan slugs. Scope is the new HIK Micro Alpex 4K LRF with ballistic hold over capability. For those interested, my FX Impact M3 is running a HumaAir high flow slug & pellet probe but no other power upgrades. It has a standard 700mm barrel with superior liner (not heavy). I'm firing the 25.5gr slugs at about 925 fps for sub MOA accuracy (Which is 50 ft/lbs for the UK guys that feel the requirement to know this). Few Sabre Tactical upgrades in the mix to the rifle body like the Arca Rail 2 and TRS rail. Air supply is by a ShootAir light weight composite tank to refill the rifle bottle as required.

For scanner duties, I'm running the amazing Pulsar Merger LRF XL50 thermal binoculars in a chest rig. I'm yet to use a device it's equal in image and functionality in all aspects. This IMO is the best thermal scanner you can by as of posting this video in March 2024.

A large portion of these rabbits were utilised for the pot or pet food. But with a large cull like this many just go into landfill as we are paid to shoot and tally numbers. There's no time on the clock so to speak for processing animals in this type of volume.

I am a vertebrate pest control contract shooter in NSW. For those wondering about the equipment being used, both my mate and I hold the necessary permits and licences when working under paid contract in NSW. This isn't hunting, it's professional pest control. If seeking information regarding that, please check the FAR webpage for details in your state. All shooting is performed on privately owned farms, with exclusive permission granted in writing for paid services.

Please don't ask how much I earn or how to become a contract shooter. I'm not a business adviser, the requirements and information vary state by state. If seeking this information research your own states legislation. I get this question a LOT, and it's not a path I wish to go down on social media.
