Activities:
Hike Enchanted Rock
We booked an early time slot (which we recommend if you’re going in the summer months). It only took us 15 minutes to get to the top but will vary based on breaks. There are many different trails to hike and they do allow dogs to visit on some of the trails. Reservations Required.

National Museum of the Pacific War
This is a very well put together museum and a great way to learn the history of the Pacific Wars.

Shop at Trade Days
This occurs the third weekend of every month and is worth the trip in itself! There are tons of booths/barns for shopping. There are antique shops, boutiques, craft booths and everything in between!
There’s also food/drinks/live music! It’s a lot of fun!

Stroll down Main Street (Shops/ Eats/ Wineries/ Boutiques & more!)
Some of our favorite stores are: Fredericksburg General Store, Rustlin’ Robs & The Christmas Store

Antique Shopping
There are so many antique shops around Main Street! We found a list of them at The Antique Mall of Fredericksburg which was handy with the surrounding stores/hours.
Our stops: Red Baron Antique Mall, Antique Mall of Fredericksburg

Watch the bats at the Old Tunnel
This is a fun way to see the bats at sundown! The park also has some trails to explore.

Eats:
Alamo Springs Café
They claim to have the best burgers in Texas and we agree!! We ate the Cover Burger & The Bucket List Burger! Both were amazing! We also shared a ½ fries/ ½ onion rings basket. The service was great & they usually have live music on Fridays/Saturdays.

Altstadt Brewery
Located 56 miles from Downtown Austin
Most of the beer we tried was pretty good but we were disappointed with the hang out areas. There was a darker lounge downstairs, some lobby seating where you could have appetizers and the garden which was just a patio with picnic tables. This was an alternate activity for us as we actually wanted to visit Garrison Brother Distillery but if you want to try German beer, it’s an alright place.

Auslander
We were so impressed with the food/service here! We sat at the front in lieu of waiting for a table so it was a bit hot but overall great experience!
We had the Smoked Sausage Sandwich & the Käsewurst for our entrees both were AMAZING! We also had the apple strudel & bread pudding + a scoop of ice cream for dessert again both AMAZING! If you want delicious German food please eat here!

Old German Bakery
We liked our breakfast so much the first morning, we came back the second morning! The first morning we each had the breakfast plate one with a waffle & the other with the German pancake and both were great! Second day we had eggs benedict & the Denver omelet again, both delicious! The first day we arrived around 8:00am and only waited about 10 minutes. The second day was Father’s Day & we arrived around 9:50am and had to wait about 40 minutes. The bakery goods are amazing. Don't skip them!

Clear River Ice Cream & Bakery
We got the strawberries & cream and the Lavender peach in waffles cones both were so good!

Wilson’s Tips:
1. Reservations are required for Enchanted Rock National Park ($8pp) & the Old Tunnel ($5pp to access park after 5pm)
2. Get there early & snag the benches in between the upper/lower decks. This area is typically reserved for accessible parties but if there’s not a crowd, they’ll let you stay to watch the bats. We felt like it was a better view than the lower deck because we were able to see the bats fly above the tree lines and off into the night sky. It was so cool! If you sit in the lower deck, you do get to hear a presentation about the bats/park prior to viewing them.
3.Visit the 3rd weekend of the month to shop at Trade Days! If you visit & pay for parking at the beginning of the weekend, it’s paid all weekend long at only $5 per vehicle!
4. Ask for the 32oz giant mug at Aldstadt. Its not on the menu and they only charged us the price of one beer for it!
5. Explore Fredericksburg culture & rich history and not just the wineries!
