Description: How I changed my battery in my 2001 Ford F350 7.3L Lariat Crew Cab 4x4.
Battery I used: Motorcraft BXT65 850 amps.
Tools I used & Recommended:
½” or 13mm combination Wrench.
12mm Combination Wrench if the others don’t fit.
Battery Terminal Cleaner. 8mm 3/8” Drive Socket.
9” 3/8” Drive Extension.
3/8” Drive Stubby Ratchet.
Blade Screwdriver, large to help spread terminals if needed.
Multimeter, to measure voltages to ensure Alternator is working.
Battery Charger, if the batteries are low.Consumables Recommended:
Paper Towels.
Bottle of water or use a Garden hose to rinse off soda if used to clean corrosion off terminals.
Chemical Recommended:
CRC Battery Terminal Protectant.
Permatex AntiSeize Lubricant PN: 81343.
Soda Pop. For corrosion removal on battery terminals if needed.
