Foods That Should Be BANNED for Babies (and How to Make Them SAFE!)

Follow
Baby-Led Weaning with Katie Ferraro

What are some UNSAFE foods for babies that you can easily make SAFE? In this video I’m sharing a few of my LEAST favorite baby foods…with suggestions on how you can modify them to make them safe for your baby to eat!

Foods we are covering in this video are:

• Apples raw apples are a choking hazard but you can slice, peel, core and poach them to make soft strips of cooked apples that babies can safely eat
• Bell Peppers raw, crunchy strips of bell pepper are not safe for babies to eat. You can roast and peel, do low sodium jarred cooked strips or make a romesco sauce instead
• Bread can babies eat bread? Due to its high sodium content, refined grain status and the potential for bread to ball up and get stuck to the baby’s mouth, there are better carbohydrate sources for babies!
• Steak there are lots of safe cuts of beef babies can eat but I don’t offer solid pieces of steak to babies as it is a choking hazard
• Peanut Butter thick globs of nut butter or intact nuts are not safe for babies to eat. You can do thinned out peanut butter or low sodium baby peanut puffs instead
