Fly me to the Moon is a very well known jazz standard and a very useful medium tempo number. In this jazz violin lesson I first demonstrate the basic melody, and suggest how to modify the phrasing. I then look at improvisation, first of all demonstrating a simplistic pentatonic scale approach. I then analyse the II/V/I patterns within the chord sequence, and show how these can be approached as "safe spaces" for improvisation.
