Fun fact:
The first community in the world to add fluoride to the drinking water was Grand Rapids, Michigan!

Theres no doubt that it does wonders for reducing cavities in developing teeth. The reduction of dental carries after the introduction of #fluoridatedwater is unprecedented, and the CDC mentioned that community water fluoridation is one of the greatest public health achievements of the 20th century.

The community of Juneau, Alaska removed it from their water supply, and the rates of cavities did go up.

However, there is little evidence to show that fluoride in the drinking water has a significant benefit for adults, who's teeth are fully developed.

Furthermore, fluoride risks are becoming a topic of discussion as it has been shown to have adverse effects on the Pineal Gland and the Thyroid.

Community water fluoridation is of significant benefit to children who's teeth are still developing.

If used in excess, it can cause #fluorosis of the teeth, where the teeth look discolored and can be subject to further future complications.
