We still have a few hummingbirds visit the flowers in our backyard in our Zone 9a garden south of Houston, Texas. We have females, so I believe they have nested somewhere close. Hummingbirds prefer flowers that are tubular shaped, and show preferences towards bright colors like red and orange. Join me in this video as I show you the flowers they are visiting in our yard this early June:
Hummingbird Falls Salvia
Amante and Amistad Salvia
Cuphea or Cigar Plant (David Verity and Vermillionaire varieties)
Cardinal Climber (grown each year from seed) • Cardinal Climber Vine for Hummingbird...
Russelia (Firecracker Plant)
Balloon Milkweed flowers
Porterweed
Coral Honeysuckle
Firebush
Turk's Cap
Shrimp Plant
Salvia Madrensis or Forsythia Sage
Flame Acanthus
