FLORIDA APPEALS JOURNAL™
JOURNAL ENTRY 20.2021

Recorded on October 31, 2021

Here are the nuts and bolts of a the appeals process likely to be relevant to practitioners as well individuals. This is intended as an overview to help make the process easier. Many of the details of an appeal are not included here.

When you get a court order that you’re not happy with, the first question to ask is whether it is a final order or a nonfinal order. Most nonfinal orders are not appealable. There are some exceptions and we discuss those in this video. Florida Rules of Appellate Procedure Rule 9.100 lays out specific appealable nonfinal orders.

The key element to remember is that there are specific timelines regarding submitting notice of appeal. These are very strict and can cost you the case if not followed correctly.

Many other details of filing an appeal are included in this video.

The citations below describe in detail that procedures to follow.
