Fishing Through the May Rot for Flatties

Having had a few good fishing sessions down Shoreham, I headed back down as the weather was beautiful. My plan was to fish one rod at distance for the plaice. A second rod would be fished close in, between 25 and 60 yards, to see if any summer species had arrived. I was particularly thinking about bream, but also wondering if a flounder might grace the beach with its presence.

What I had not bargained for was severe May rot! It was rife, at all distances, making fishing conditions hard. I battled on through as I knew I was armed with a good selection of rigs and bait to maximise my chances. In the video, I show how I baited up with white rag, fresh outs, frozen lug, small peelers, and razor fish.

Allinall, it was a lovely day out and fish were caught.
