JAXA H3 Rocket Launch Martian Moons Exploration Spacecraft To Land On Mars Moon Phobos For Sample Return Mission




Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) is a robotic space probe set for launch in 2026 to bring back the first samples from Mars' largest moon Phobos. Developed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and announced on 9 June 2015, MMX will land and collect samples from Phobos once or twice, along with conducting Deimos flyby observations and monitoring Mars's climate.



The H3 Launch Vehicle is a Japanese expendable launch system. H3 launch vehicles are liquidpropellant rockets with strapon solid rocket boosters and are launched from Tanegashima Space Center in Japan. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and JAXA are responsible for the design, manufacture, and operation of the H3. The H3 is the world's first rocket to use an expander bleed cycle for the first stage engine.
