The nonlucrative visa offered by Spain is a popular option for those seeking permanent residency in the country for the purposes of living there or retiring there. If you don't want to work in Spain or are retiring there, this is your best bet.
The nonlucrative residence residency is a type of Spanish visa for those from outside the European Union who have enough money to support themselves without working. It's fine to bring your family, as they are considered part of the applicant pool.
With this visa, you can enter Spain and stay for an entire year. Its primary drawback is that you are legally barred from working or conducting business in Spain. To rephrase, you are not allowed to work for any local company. It operates exclusively for charitable purposes.

• You can maintain yourself and any family members without having to work.
• Have adequate private medical insurance in Spain or international expat health insurance.
