A small, undetected water leak in the Kirkwood home in Port Orchard, Washington led to an uncontrollable mold infestation, sickening the family of seven (parents and five children). Elevenyearold daughter Jael applied for a makeover, but the family was not initially selected. Jael persisted, enlisting the help of "Sweet" Alice Harris and the mayor of Port Orchard; one year later, Jael's persistence paid off, and the family was selected (by this time the family was forced to relocate to a single motel room). The team demolished the moldinfested home and built a completely new one in its place.
