Recently while looking for something on Google Maps, I noticed an odd shaped island in San Diego's Mission Bay that I had never noticed before. I was born and raised in San Diego and would often go to Mission Bay as a kid, but somehow I'd never seen or noticed West Ski Island before. I showed it to a few other people and they were equally perplexed, with a couple not believing it was actually in San Diego.

In this video we head to San Diego's Mission Bay, discuss the history of the bay (its man made), and voyage as close as we can to West Ski Island by land and sea and figure out why the sight of it is so unfamiliar to many San Diegans.
