The sciatic nerve runs from the back, down the back of the leg into the foot. Sciatica is a term used to describe symptoms of pain, numbness, or tingling that runs down the back of the leg (usually worse below the level of the knee) due to nerve irritation. There are many causes of sciatica, the most common being a herniated disc.

One of the first things people are recommended to do (or feel like they want to do) are sciatica stretches. Sciatica stretches are also known as sciatic nerve glides or sciatic nerve flossing.

The problem with these commonly recommended sciatic nerve exercises are that they can easily irritate the nerve if performed improperly (at the wrong time or wrong dose).

In this video, I walk you through a mindmap and live case studies of real patients dealing with sciatica, in hopes that you can better understand sciatica and identify which types of exercises are safe or NOT safe to do.

Quick shoutout to my main mentor Tom Dalonzo Baker who inspired the framework for this logic... through his systematic way of giving people the tools, knowledge, and understanding to treat themselves through his creation of Total Motion Release. Thanks Tom!
