Hello, everybody Clayton here at etrailer.com here at the trailer we install, test and review a lot of different products to help you as a customer make a more educated decision before your purchase. Today we're going to be working on a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek. We're going to be taking a look at and I'll be showing you how to install the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack System. Adding a roof rack system to your Crosstrek is going to be an awesome upgrade. This is going to allow us to throw a kayak on our roof, a bike rack, or even a cargo basket. So it's going to really open up our options for all of our outdoor adventures.

After reading a lot of our reviews, it really seems like the Crosstrek owners love this roof rack system. A lot of you guys like to use your Crosstrek for a lot of different things. So having a versatile roof rack like this is going to be an awesome upgrade. We do have the 50 inch crossbars on our Crosstrek today but you can find them in 58 if you do have a little bit more gear and you want to slap on your roof. Now the crossbars are going to made out of aluminum.

So they're going to be nice and light, but also very strong. And the Aero Design is really going to cut down on wind noise. So it's going to make traveling a lot nicer because you're not going to hear a whistling or rattling or anything from your roof. Our roof rack system is going to use T bolts to mount our favorite accessories. And one thing I really like about it is on our end caps.

We can just fold that in down and slide our T bolts in. Now you do see this rubber gasketing here. All we do is push down on that, slide our T bolts in and it's going to give a nice secure fit cutting down on any rattle from our hardware. And it's going to be really nice because we're not going to have to trim out any of this rubber so we can keep it there. And it's going to work for a lot of different accessories.

And something I really like about this is it comes with the integrated locks and there's going to be one lock on each foot. So you didn't have to worry about this getting ripped off your roof. So we just take this out and you can make any adjustments you need to. And this is a really sleek design. So it's not going to add very much height to your Crosstrek. It only adds about four and a quarter inches. So it's nice and tight to the roof of your vehicle but you're still going to be able to use everything you want to. And this kit does work with your raised factory Subaru rails. And honestly, this is a really nice kit. I like how easy it is to use. Simply take it out of the box, put a couple of components on your feet and slap it on your roof. And it's super easy to adjust as well. So whether you're switching from a cargo carrier to a let's say kayak carrier it's going to be real easy just to slide this back and tighten it down. With that being said, we'll take a look at how to get installed. So when we get our crossbars and our feet out of the package, we do need to do a little bit of assembly. We're going to grab our pads. We'll just slide these into our feet. You want to make sure to line them up on the outsides. Just going to push those into place. It's like so, we're going to get our other pad. You want these wings facing the bottom. Let's just slide that into our other side of our foot. And it's like so we'll repeat that process for our remaining feet. I just want to slide this into our channel. And before we lift for crossbar up we want to add our end caps to our rails then I want to come over to our vehicle lift our rail up onto our rails on our vehicle. You want to make sure that your rubber padding on the sides is not rolled underneath of your foot. We now want to take a measurement between our two crossbars and make sure that they are parallel and we're sitting right at 24 inches, which meets our minimum crossbar spread. Now we'll check on the other side. We then want to take a measurement from the end of our foot, to the end of our crossbar. Then we will need to slide it a little bit towards the passenger side. You just want to go back and forth until you get this perfectly centered. We can now grab our provided tool and tighten down our Allen bolt. We don't want to over tighten these just to where they're nice and snug. That should be good. We can now slide our end caps back into place and lock them down. Do the same thing on the other side with the tool. With everything tightened down we're not ready to hit the road with our favorite accessory. That's going to do it for our look at and our installation of Malone's AirFlow2 Roof Rack System on our 2021 Subaru Crosstrek..
