Erecting Pallet Racking

Today we’ve got Corey and Liam erecting some 3 metre tall Dexion Pallet Racking.

Firstly, they stand an upright frame and Liam holds it in position while Corey inserts a couple of pilot beams into the bottom of the frame.

Next they line up a second frame to attach to the beams. Notice how they position the node point of the upright bracing to the front. This provides greater impact resistance to the frame if its hit by a forklift or other equipment

Squaring off the first bay includes making sure their is adequate clearance from the wall minimum of 200mm is recommended.

The guys use a tape measure to make sure the bay is perfectly square.

Then a level is used to determine if the uprights are vertical. If not, shims or packers are inserted under the base plate of the upright…….There we go, nice and level!

Corey now starts the pinning down process. He’s using a heavy duty Milwaukee concrete drill which does a great job chewing into concrete.

Liam cleans concrete dust from the hole and surrounds and then fastens the upright to the concrete slab with a 75mm dynabolt.

Last of all, he tightens both dynabolts on each upright and the pinning down of the first bay is complete.

Build the second and third bays as you did the first but before you pin down these bays you’ll need to run a string line to square off the run.

Don’t forget to level the subsequent bays and pin them down. Then voila, the run is completed with only beams required at their correct levels to finish.

Well done guys, all done. Beams installed and product loaded!
