Hank Dunn

14yearof Emmet Till, a Black child visiting from Chicago entered Bryant's Grocery in Money, Mississippi, in the summer of 1955 to buy candy. He was accused of assaulting the White woman who sold him the candy. She said he grabbed her and pulled her next to himself. Years later she admitted that never happened. Days after the alleged assault, he was kidnapped, tortured, shot, and his body thrown in the Tallahatchie River. Two men were arrested, tried, and acquitted by an allWhite jury. The men later sold their story to "Look" magazine and admitted that they killed Emmet Till. There were some heroes in this story. The brutal death of Emmet Till inspired Rosa Parks not to give up her seat on a bus later that year.
