Economic indicators are basically pieces of a puzzle for economists. A single economic indicator doesn't tell you everything in and of itself but a series of economic indicators helps you paint an accurate picture of reality.

Economic indicators are used for anything from forex trading and stock trading to macroeconomics. While economic indicators aren't open books, they can most definitely help you make informed decision when trading forex, when trading stocks, when analyzing a country from a macroeconomic perspective and the list could go on and on.

Even if you aren't a forex or stock trader, economic indicators are still ridiculously useful because a few of them can tell you more about the economy than a multihour TV show!
