Check out this thorough demonstration on how to create solid wood, solid resin, or wood & resin bottle openers using the line of Crafted Elements bottle opener templates and molds.

Templates:

The ultimate collection of bottle opener router templates. Six templates are included with this set and feature 40.4mm (1.59") diameter openings to allow you to router a recessed pocket to accommodate the common metal bottle opener inserts found on Amazon.

The inner portion of the bottle opener insert (the part that actually grips the bottle cap) also requires a pocketed section within the center of the finished bottle opener. For this you can either use a 13/16" drill bit (ideally a forstner bit) to create two side by side round pockets (like an 8) which will match the center part of the bottle insert. Alternatively, you can use the small bottle opener insert template included in the top corner of the master outer template sheet to recess this pocket with a handheld router.

Molds:

A silicone mold to make bottle openers is not revolutionary, but one of this build, durability and quality is. Using over 10X the amount of silicone versus common $15 imported bottle opener molds from Amazon (that warp and rip with minor use), our heavy duty, production grade, super durable bottle opener molds will keep up with the demands of any resin artist. Plus unlike most common low cost flimsy imports, our bottle opener set #1 mold is 5/8" deep, allowing you to make thicker, stronger bottle openers.

The six pockets feature six different shapes, each featuring a 40.5mm diameter recessed opening and a corresponding lower pocket to accommodate the standard metal bottle opener metal insert hardware you can get on Amazon. Once you demold your resin casting from the mold, use a thin drill bit to pre drill the holes for the bottle opener insert, put the insert in place, and use two small screws (usually provided when you buy the insert hardware) to attach it to your resin piece.

Bottle openers are a fun project that are easy to sell at markets or gift to friends and family. Since they use only small amounts of resin and use off the shelf hardware, they are relatively low cost to make.
