In this video I show how to remove a drill chuck from the DeWalt DCD797. I wanted to make this video after trying to find a solution to my broken chuck. I looked all over and found nothing that could help me. The most common diy removal method is to remove the chuck's set screw (or not) depending on the model, inserting a large allen wrench into the chuck, hand tight, set the drill in lowest gear, set drill to drill mode, lay on side and hit the allen key with a hammer counter clockwise to remove the chuck. I did try this method however after banging on the allen for about 20 mins I decided to just remove the chuck. I got the idea from a youtube video of someone disassembling a dewalt drill. In the video the shaft that holds the chuck just slides right out of the gear housing. I thought why not just remove the chuck in the same manor however instead of breaking down the drill just pull the chuck straight out...and it worked!
