Easy Baked Apples are like eating the filling of an apple pie... you won't even miss the crust! This is such a quick and easy comfort dessert perfect for when you're craving a fresh out of the oven dessert that's delicious served warm and gooey. It's great plain or a la mode with scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Easy Baked Apples Ingredients
4 apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, Pink Ladies and Galas are good choices)
3 tablespoons salted butter, softened
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
optional:
granola for topping stuffed apples
ice cream, whipped cream and/or caramel for serving

Easy Baked Apples Recipe Directions
Begin by preheating the oven to 375 degrees. Wash four apples thoroughly, then, using a knife or spoon remove most of the core of the apples. Don’t poke through the bottom, we want to have a cup that will hold the buttery filling inside. Make the hole about an inch to 2 inches wide.

My favorite apple to use is the Honeycrisp, it’s juicy, but very sturdy.. It’s sweet but with a crisp, tartness. Granny Smith, Pink Ladies and Galas also work great for this recipe.

Next, combine 3 tablespoons of softened salted butter and ⅓ cup brown sugar and cream it together. Add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of vanilla and stir to mix. You’ll want about a tablespoon of filling for each apple. To make more than 4 baked apples, this recipe is very flexible. For 6 baked apples use 5 tablespoons butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon and vanilla. Just double the ingredients to make 8 baked apples.

Place the apples in a baking dish that will hold them upright, and fill the apples with the buttery mixture. I’m also topping this one with a granola mixture, that has lots of nut clusters and dried fruit. Customize your apples with your favorite warm spices, like nutmeg, cardamon, ginger.

Pour 1 cup of hot water into the baking dish and bake until the apples are cooked through and nice and soft, but not mushy, about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on how large your apples are. Let them cool for about 5 minutes, then serve plain or with scoops of ice cream, whipped cream or caramel drizzle.
