Two newly fledged eaglets are perched on a branch. They begin peal calling, described by Birds of the World as ' highpitched, prolonged, gulllike cry, often repeated 3–5 times'. They don't appear alarmed. Are they responding to seeing their parents?
Birds of the World does not give a social context for this call, but we often hear older eaglets and fledglings give it in response to their parents, especially when their parents are carrying food.
