Dylan A714723 1 Year Old Male German Shepherd Shiba Inu Mix Needs Rescue By 05/19/24

Dylan was brought to the shelter by a good samaritan on 2/8/24 after reportedly being given away for free in an alleyway and bystander concerned for his safety. Dylan was partially carried into the facility by finder, as he was hesitant to walk at times in the parking lot. He continued to display nervous body language on impound, being avoidant of physical handling and fractious with restraint. Dylan adjusted quickly after intake, and showed positive signs of acclimating to shelter notated on 2/11/24. During Dylan's time at the shelter increased levels of anxiety & stress have been observed and/or reported, with more difficulties with staff/volunteer handling once out of kennel. Dylan has been on our urgent/special needs list since mid February, since that time his overall anxiety/stress in & out of kennel has increased showing poor quality of life indicators. Dylan has participated in playgroups with other dogs and has done well with interactions out of kenel when accompanied by experienced handlers. Due to poor quality of life at shelter from prolonged housing and increased handling concerns out of kennel, Dylan needs placement by end of day Sunday May 19th 2024.
