The dictionary definition states: a movement of part of the body, especially a hand or the head, to express an idea or meaning.

This is the same for drama, use your hands (along with your facial expression) to add meaning to what you are saying. Some gestures are very obvious and clear, whilst others are more subtle. Experiment with what is right for your character and what they are trying to say.
