When it comes to lights, I often tell you to not run power to light boxes (see video):
   • Never Run Power to a Light Box

This makes figuring out where powering is coming from really hard, and makes you need a ladder if you have to troubleshoot in a customer's home!

Because power was run to this light box, we are left with a rat's nest of wires, because the worker did not organize their wires, and simply grabbed whatever wire was closest so splice.

As an electrician, first organize your wires by hitting the corners of your box. You will then see after splicing, that folding the wires becomes much easier.

Also, because so many wires were in this light box, the electrician made a pigtail onto the neutral wire (white wire), making the box even messier!

Remember, lights always have pigtails on them.. so no need to have pigtails in your light boxes.. just attach the light pigtail to the respective splice!
