There are many theories about the origin of this breed, while some claim that it emerged from the mixture of the Bedlington terrier and the bull terrier, others say this breed came to Ireland in the XVI century with the ships of the Spanish Navy. What will be the truth? Possibly we never know. But, it’s estimated that the origin of this mediumsized breed dates back to the XVIII century in the County of Kerry, in Ireland, hence the origin of its name. Although for a long time it was used in the hunting of rodents, vermin and other small animals, eventually the Kerry Blue Terrier became in an excellent companion dog.

Corpulent, strong and muscular the Kerry Blue Terrier is a mediumsized dog that can reach between 18 to 19.5 inches tall and weigh 33 to 40 pounds. It stands out for having thick eyebrows and a rather long beard and mustache. His hair is typical of terrier, very wavy, thick, but soft. The gray blue color is quite uniform throughout the body, and in the adult it can be any shade of blue gray, from deep slate to light gray blue.
