Originally, from the islands of Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera, the Ibizan Hound is one of the oldest breeds. It has become the most iconic of all the descendants of the Egyptian dog because they have found skeletons of several dogs with more than 5,000 years old, very similar to this one in the Middle East. Currently, they’re quite common, and although they have lost some of their own characteristics by the crossing with other dogs, they still maintain several defining features. They are great pets, due to they’re independence, loyalty and love for their family.

The Ibizan Hound is a light, agile and robust dog. He has a muscular, big and strong, but above all stylized body that can measure between 22 and 29 inches tall and weigh 42 to 55 pounds. His eyes are especially useful for hunting, since he has a binocular vision; they are oval and amber colored. There are three varieties of Ibizan: straight hair, long hair and long hair. The colors are white and red, white and brown, solid white or red or a dark brown color with a darker shade, called lion color.
