In the past, the Samoyeds were working dogs of Russia’s Samoyed tribe

In the early 20th century, a British explorer named Antartic Buck
first introduced the Samoyed breed
to the western countries.

Since then, Queen Alexandria of Denmark
fell in love with the Samoyeds
and took initiative in promoting the breed.


3. Remarkable characteristics of Samoyeds

As Samoyeds have been working dogs in the past,
they have a very sturdy build.

Naturally, they are highly active and thus you need to satisfy their need
by walking and playing with them on a daily basis.

Also, as a breed that lived in the polar regions,
they have a thick, doublecoated fur which is weak against heat
and sheds an enormous amount yearly.

As such, their fur needs to be managed
through frequent brushing.

“Samoyed hereditary glomerulopathy”
is a kidney disease
that most typically affects the Samoyed breed.

This is a genetic disorder that Samoyeds often experience
and thus it is best to keep a good diet regularly
to manage their kidney health.
