Does Your Client Psychobabble? How to Deal With the Expert Therapy Client

Follow
Mark Tyrrell

I don't know if you've ever thought this but to me some clients seem like "professional clients."

It's as though you are the magician but they know all your tricks! They might have been so "therapized" that they now think and talk in jargon.

This might be fine. But sometimes the psychobabble and expectations they have of your therapy is overly influenced by their past experience of other people's therapy. These expectations and excessive theorizing may actually tie them up in knots and prevent them leading a more satisfying and happier life.

In this video I provide some ideas which over the decades I've found useful in helping the "professional client" actually start getting what they need.
