I describe the detriments of getting a J.D. and why most people should avoid going to law school without a fullride. (And even then, with caution).
I would say what is most important is that people considering law school have decent work experience with references and possibly even a master's in a field of interest. The work experience is key to getting a job later and having a master's degree after the J.D. may help cover the sin of not being a lawyer.
