DIY Air Duct Cleaning Tools part 2 - Making Air Whips for Duct Cleaning - Testing Different Designs

Follow
Budget Phil

I'll be making air whips for duct cleaning this time in my DIY Air Duct Cleaning Tools series. During part 1, I showed how I used a doityourself air whip and a duct vacuum I made to clean some HVAC ductwork. Now in part 2, I'll build and test some duct whips using three different methods and two different materials. Including a small, gentle one that I used to clean a dryer vent. Here is a supply list for the DIY duct whips in the video. Some of these items were purchased from a local hardware store, but I included links for online buying options. I receive a commission from some of the links in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Parts needed for the Air Whips :

Threaded PVC Cap, 1/2 inch, schedule 40 : https://amzn.to/3Su2XJz

Latex hose, 3/8" O.D. x 10ft. : https://amzn.to/3HT0iEo

Standard aquarium air line : https://amzn.to/3TRl4ex (available at most pet shops)

Latex Tubing, 1/8 inch : https://amzn.to/3HPEhpY

Reducer, 1/2" NPT male to 1/4" NPT female : https://amzn.to/3OxryMs

Barb Fitting, 1/8" I.D. barb x 1/4" NPT female : https://amzn.to/48a9LSf

Coupler, 1/4" NPT female (not needed if all the barb fittings have female NPT connections to fit the air hose) : https://amzn.to/49tsGZu

Cable Ties, 4 inch long, plastic : https://amzn.to/48aVq87

I couldn't find a female 1/4" NPT x 1/4" ID barb connector locally, so I bought a male version like this one : https://amzn.to/3utEjk9 But a female version doesn't need the coupler, like this one : https://amzn.to/3SpQre0

Gloves I wear : https://amzn.to/3xDggRd
